"The Nativity Facade illustrates the major events of the early life of Jesus Christ in a sculptural and ornamental form, full of optimism and joy, which depicts all of creation celebrating the Nativity. The doors are designed to fit into this context and are inspired by nature. While each of the four doors will be unique, the piece installed on Wednesday is full of ivy leaves, pumpkin flowers and lily flowers, with several types of bugs depicted, such as beetles, flies, wasps, bees, grasshoppers, ladybirds, ants, spiders and dragonflies. The door's dominating colour is green, achieved from the process of corroding bronze."
At 12 yrs. old I was fascinated by this little box called a camera. If you pressed the button and brought the negatives to a drugstore, one week later photos would be returned in its' place. I didn't understand this magic. When I was old enough, I studied photography at Brooklyn College. I found that if I put my negatives in a thing called an enlarger a shadow would appear on photo paper. When I dropped that paper in some chemicals, a picture would emerge. Wow! I was hooked and so I studied at the International Center Of Photography. Now, I take a photo, plug my camera into my computer and the photo I just took pops up on my screen. Times have changed.
