Ride a painted pony
Let the spinning wheel spin.............
This is the historic merry-go-round and is the only surviving hand-carved carousel from the 1800s to the 1930s. This was the Brooklyn's golden age of carousel construction.

Beautiful image of a well-loved childhood memory!
Gun Legler
A beautiful homage! The painted pony looks so new. are they still building these carousels?
Madeline Ellis replied:
Gun, thanks for your supportive words. They built a lot of new rides and refurbished old ones at Luna Park in Coney Island. They were going to tear this place down and build up a parking lot, or condominiums. I am glad they saved this historical place. It has a lot of sentimental value to all of us who have had the opportunity to play here.

Madeline Ellis replied:
I am so glad you "love" this. Mark, since you are from Brooklyn, you must be familiar with Coney Island.
Katerina Apostolakou
A very beautiful image!!!
Madeline Ellis replied:
Thanks so much Katerina. There is something magical about carousels that captivates me. As a child, I always loved reaching for the brass ring.
Madeline Ellis replied:
It is nice to know that you made this one of your favorites Katerina.
Frank Winters
Very nice Madeline! Is this the new Carousel? I haven't been inside yet. Your colors are wonderful -- will go next time.
Madeline Ellis replied:
Thanks Frank. I am not sure whether it is new or not, but I did not see it the last time I was there.
